Boat Cruise in Resurrection Bay, Seward, AK

The last full day in Seward, we got on a boat cruise with Alana (who if you go visit her, she gets amazing deals on everything!). We left the harbor at 10 am and headed toward the Harding Ice Field Glacier (the exact name I can't remember). We tried to get pictures of the whales but after several shots of just water, we gave up!
One the way we saw Orcas. A mother and her baby (not so little), a humpback whale from a distance but we could see the water spouting, dall porposies, seals, sea lions, sea otters, puffins. It was amazing to see all these animals so close. The Glacier was impressive too. I just can't even describe the sights and sounds of seeing the glacier right up to the water and hearing the ice crashing into the water. I was really surprised how bitterly cold the temperature got as we entered the bay near the glacier. The boat was stopped for awhile and the air was just so cold. The color of the water was unlike anything I've every seen! Everyone was really quiet as we stood and listened to the sounds of the glacier. There was a mix between a softer waterfall and someone throwing bolders down a steep hill. When large chunks of glacier would fall, it just took your breath away!
This boat cruise also provided dinner on an island called Fox Island. While we were there eating, our boat called for help because there was something wrong with it. So after eating delicious Salmon, prime-rib and an extra splurge for Alaskan King Crab, we boarded this new boat which had a great window seat. (I also bought a new hat). We happened to be sitting for a perfect full view of a humpback whale jumping completely out of the water (there's probably a technical term for it). It happened so suddenly that we didn't even get a chance to capture it on camera but it will always be clear in my mind as one of life's most exciting and unbelievable moments. Did I really just see that or was it my imagination from my desire my whole life to see something like that! Inspiring for sure! We were so blessed!
After getting off the boat, we drove Alana back to her lodge, said goodbye and drove to Anchorage where we spent the night in a motel before our early morning flight!

How fun!! I would love to visit Alaska sometime. Did you ask the residents what they thought of Sarah Palin??
