So there is this tradition in Seward every year for the 4th of July, there's this race up the side of this mountain. It's not a tall mountain and the hike is only about 4 miles but these crazy people run up the mountain and back down and there are some really steep parts! So of course, Jed wanted to hike this particular mountain! Alana and I warned him that we were in the "mosey mountain club" so if he wanted to run . . . well he waited until we were eating lunch at least! This hike was so beautiful. The views were amazing! The hike was tough in places and we did go our snail pace but it was well worth the view from the top (well close to the top anyway!). One of the fun parts was hitting the snow patches and sliding down them! At first Alana and I were a little afraid because they felt so steep but after sliding down a couple, we had fun going down the rest. I got totally wet but it was worth it and as you can see, the sky was perfectly clear and it was a warm 68 degrees, a perfect day in Alaska! After Jed came back down from the top, we were finishing eating and we saw a bald eagle flying around and as it came around the 2nd time, it was right off the cliff where we were sitting and we could see eye to eye. It was amazing! Absolutely breathtaking!
