Saturday I ran in the Half Marathon race in Ogden. It was fantastic! You start up in Ogden Valley at Eden Park and run around the Pine View Reservoir and down Ogden Canyon and through the city bike trail and come out near Ogden Temple. The race only runs on a city street for about ½ a mile. It really is beautiful and my favorite part is you get to run next to the river and there are waterfalls along the way as well. So cool! My friend Shauna and I shaved 20 minutes off our time from last year partly from better training and partly not being pregnant and having to stop 3 times for potty breaks! We were ecstatic when we beat the marathon runners who passed us up last year. Our time was 2 hours 21 minutes! YAY!!! The best part is that I felt really good for the whole race. I don't know if it was great training or the energy "goo" that I sucked down a few times at the Aid Stations. I didn't feel so dead at the end of the race like last year which was a real blessing since my friend Shauna was hurting and hating it so I could take her mind off it by telling stories. I was into what I'd learned about the FLDS culture when we were passing Jed and the kids really close to the finish line and we started to sprint! I am really sore today and could barely walk yesterday especially up and down our stairs and forget carrying Leah on the stairs, that was Cannon and Jed’s job.
After the race on Saturday, Shauna and her family invited us on their boat. We took the kids to a beach somewhat private and had lunch and then took turns riding the inner tube. Everyone had a great time and we loved that it was actually warm enough to enjoy getting wet. The water was pretty cold but it felt so good. Even Leah liked putting her feet in! Cannon, Rachel and Devon all jumped in and had fun playing games with the Hoffmann’s. We feel so blessed to be able to have health and strength and a great love of the outdoors. It sure beats doing yard work!

Way to go Lisa! Speaking of yard work..that is what I was doing the KILLED me Saturday. Imagine your idea of "yard work" and times that by 10 and that is my actual yard work. I am getting our raspberries ready(weeded and mulched) and planting and weeding my three huge flower beds in front an don the side of the house. Robert cut down 7 trees on our cliff and we had to move the debris a a burn pile, I cleaned out my garage and burned everything I don't want, I cleaned up the carport and the side yard yuck mess, Robert graveled the driveway and tilled the garden and the backyard so we can plant real grass this year. All in all I enjoyed being outside but man was it hot and I sweat all darn day! We are planting our garden this week...what a job! I am getting about 4 huge blueberry bushes and Robert got 30 strawberry plants that we also need to plant...WHEW! A ton of stuff to do:)
Wow!!! Amazing, you are my inspiration. It is my goal to love running... but who knows when that will actually happen.. my plan is before I get old and moldy... wish me luck :o)
Lisa - congrats on the run! You look wonderful, your hard work has paid off.
Hi, Lisa! Good job in on the run! I always look up to people like you and Jed that can do long runs. Dad and I have been running 5.5 miles three days a week preparing for the Wasatch Back relay later in June. I'm just glad it's not as long as your half marathon!
You are awesome! I wish I could do that. (Or wanted to bad enough to actually train.) Way to go!!
