Basement finish/remodel

As the main part of Christmas this year we started the finishing of the basement. The work began the first week of December and we encouraged the kids not to go look at its progress until Christmas. On Christmas day, the framing and drywall were completed but not much else but it was so fun to show the kids on Christmas morning. They were so excited when we opened our big gift from Santa (a new TV) but it's still in the box waiting! The process has been fun and creative. Now into January, the excitement is still there everyday when our crew leaves and the kids go down to look but I do have to say, having a baby crawling around everywhere upstairs in the dirt and dust is getting old. I try to keep on top of it but it is everywhere. My favorite part is the stone which you will see in the pictures. It turned out so stunning. We chose to only do one bedroom and have the other room be a future workout room with the sauna that we bought from Mom and Dad framed into a space. We also have a desk with bookshelves that haven't been finished that will be a computer area. We will have carpet throughout.
This is where a pellet stove will go
Another look at the stove area
This is the wall where our TV will be mounted with all the wires for the TV and DVD player will run through the celing and over to a receiver in the storage room. We also had the ceiling wired for speakers.
They did such a good job with matching the trim to the sauna.
This will be a closet next to a computer desk/work station with bookshelves above the desk (which you can't see).
This is right when you come down the stairs entering into the main bedroom (Cannon's room for now).  He will have plenty of bookshelf space for all those AP classes.
This is what is in the bedroom closet.  It was fun to design a closet with the idea that it would function as a dresser as well.
Another look at the closet.  So one side will have the full length rod for dresses, suits, etc. and the other side with be cut in half for shirts and shorter items.  Each side with also have a shelf.  The shelves in the middle will act as "drawers".
This is looking out from Cannon's room to the living room.
The entrance at the foot of the stairs with the bedroom on the left and the bathroom right in front and a storage under the stairs on the right.  We are not finishing the bathroom at this stage but have it framed, drywalled and primed for a later date.
Looking up the stairs with a storage to the left.
On the left is the color for the bedroom and on the right the color for the living room and work out room.

This is awesome! I bet your kids are just loving every minute of the transformation! Can't wait to see it all finished! I'm sure you will be relieved when it is all finished.

Hurray! It all looks so amazing! I love organized closets with shelves built in! You will love that! I love the rock, it is beautiful! You will have a popular hangout spot for the teens in the neighborhood. Fun!
