A few weeks ago, Rachel and I were driving home from IKEA. We were talking about soccer season and I suggested that she start playing outside, kicking the ball around to get in shape. The very next day while I was out running with my friend Shauna, Rachel got her dad's IPOD and went running around a small park near our home all by herself. She came back and wanted to start running during the week. We started going out at 6 am on Monday Wednesday Friday of that week running around that same park. Just a reminder, it's still dark and fairly cold here at 6 am. She did so awesome and I was impressed. I mentioned to her that there was a race that was raising money for Haiti the next Saturday and she said she wanted to do it. So that Saturday we put on lots of layers as you can see from the picture, plus I had water in that front pocket so don't be getting any ideas that I'm pregnant or put on a few pounds (ok so that last part might be true). Rachel did so great. She ran most of the time and we had so much fun doing it together. She got tired toward the end but she didn't quit. We got a time of 37 minutes. The very first 5K I ran about 5 years ago I got 33 minutes so I was amazed! I am so proud of my sweet daughter who is conscientious and driven. I'm so grateful that since I have been able to run for several years that I was in a position to support her! GO RACHEL!

I would never have even considered you were pregnant! You always look good! I love your hair, it looks like you went darker? That is so exciting for Rachel. I am way impressed she got up that early!

Wow!!!! That is fantastic! Go Rachel!! You need to come motivate me... it's my goal to run 5 miles by the time I'm 30... I have 2 years to go and I think I might be able to run up a flight of stairs... :o/
