Devon's 5th Birthday

Today, October 15th is the day. We have 4 out of six people in our family having birthdays in September and October so the Fall is usually a crazy time for us! Devon and I met Jed at Applebee's for lunch after Preschool because Angela, one of the Techs at the office was celebrating her birthday and specially invited Devon to celebrate with her. After dropping Leah off at a friends' house, we got to the restaurant first and got the table and while we were waiting, the server was so friendly to Devon who was wearing a Happy Birthday hat from preschool. Devon got really embarrassed after so much attention and didn't want to wear his hat anymore. It was so cute! Later the servers came over and sang/chanted for him and he turned all red. Angela made everyone promise not to say anything about her birthday so Devon got all the attention. They all pitched in and bought him 4 monster trucks which he just couldn't believe they were all his. He's wanted them for sooooooo loooong! After lunch we got ready for his party. Devon invited 4 friends from the neighborhood. 3 boys and 1 girl. We played cake walk for candy, soccer (it was a soccer themed party), "a guessing game" and "open a candy bar with oven mitts" which actually was more of a success than I thought! We ate cupcakes with green frosting and soccerballs on top (well the kids did, I was good!). The cake walk for candy was the biggest hit so we played that some more and then it was time to send the kids home. Devon is unbelievably tired, I think he'd go to sleep if he wasn't still so keyed up from sugar. He got some really great toys and we are very grateful for his friends. Happy 5th birthday buddy! We love you so much and think you are the cutest and sweetest boy in the world!
